Ways to Improve Social Media Presence

July 17, 2021 by Joyce

A great following for your business page on social media can mean reaching more of your potential customers. Media platforms, like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snap Chat, and Google, are essential marketing tools in business marketing. In this article, we highlight ways of improving social media presence and reaching more audiences.

User-Generated Content

Also known as UGC, or content created by the user, user-generated content is simply defined as content created by users online on social media platforms. These can be photos, videos, podcasts, texts, or audio. They are considered essential in maximizing social media presence. In marketing, UGCs are extremely beneficial because they’re cost-effective, and relationship-building between brands and target markets. There are various types of user-generated content.

Links to Websites

Other websites provide different kinds of content, covering numerous topics, and catering to various audiences. Sharing them on your page is a great way to engage your customers, and start a conversation. Caption it with a thought-provoking text, like a question asking for your target market’s opinion, inviting them to share.

Videos

They’re one of the most highly engaging UGCs. They’re eye-catching, and quickly evoke emotions when done well. Thanks to the autoplay feature of some social media platforms, such as Facebook, they quickly draw a person in. Some websites, like YouTube, specialize in allowing people to create and upload videos with different kinds of content.

Comments

They may not be an obvious kind of content but they are. Some people enjoy reading the comment section, looking for those that point at a funny anecdote in the post, offer an alternative view. Others like seeing comments that match their own thoughts and emotions expressed better. Engaging with your audience in the comments section encourages them to comment back or have others join in. It can be tricky but when executed with the right balance of empathy and wit, it reaps tremendous advantages.

Podcasts

They’re exclusively audio content so they engage specific users. In other words, not everyone likes them but if you’ve done your research well, and found that your market enjoys podcasts, then it’s time to start one. Podcasts are easy to download for offline listening and storage, so audiences can listen to them in their free time, such as when they’re driving or going out for a jog. It’s their most appealing aspect.

Reviews

While a review can be given in many different forms, some social media have a special section for text reviews on business pages, where customers give their comments and rate products as well as services. It’s not exclusive to social media, however. It can also be found on different shopping sites or marketplaces, which is an online collection of shops.

Photos

Photos are the quickest way to catch anyone’s eye, which is why some sites, like Instagram, focus mainly on photos. They quickly deliver a message in an aesthetically pleasing manner. As to what your audience finds attractive, you’ll need to research. For example, Gen Z prefers candid photos to staged ones.

Native Advertising

Native advertising allows ads to appear in social media feeds. These ads are less monotonous, are targeted to users who have shown interest in similar or related content in the past, or answer a search query. These ads will not disrupt the reading or viewing of content.

There Are Three Types of Native Advertisements:

  • Search listings
  • Recommendations from contents
  • In-feed ads

Search listings normally appear at the top of your search result for example Google search result, recommendations from contents are the ads that appear below an article you are reading or just read while in-feeds appear in feeds in social media platforms, respectively.

Optimization for Voice Search

Voice search optimization is the ability to enable your content or pages to appear in a voice-activated search. Voice searches have become common and effortless for people to find answers to questions nowadays. For instance, Google provides voice search features which many have appreciated. There are various ways that you can use to make your optimization successful. They include:

  1. Have a target audience.
  2. Focus on particular keywords
  3. Focus on relevant content
  4. Create a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page
  5. Optimize for different devices

Videos

Videos create better algorithms and statistics when it comes to viewership and content reach. With videos, one does not need to view for long to get the idea or type of content portrayed. Usually, the first five to ten seconds give an impression. Here are some reasons to have videos for getting a better social media presence:

  • More reach and engagement/feedback
  • Targets a specific audience
  • The same video can reach many platforms
  • More friendly and likeable
  • Sells more
  • Videos build greater trust between seller and customer

Omnichannel Marketing

This is a means customers can bond and interact with sellers online and even get to know more about a company through its social media presence. Here are tips on how to create your own omnichannel strategy:

  • Establish a target audience or customer base.
  • Know what social media platforms they use.
  • Create a feeling of personalization in your content.
  • Keep an eye on your metrics.

Chatboxes

These are chat features built into the site or platform when you message a page. It’s a unique way of maximizing social media presence. You have the chance to engage with followers and customers one-on-one anywhere, everywhere. There are many ways one can create social media presence known and even remain relevant for long. Other simple ways include:

  1. Do it regularly. Being active and posting content often will make you more recognizable, and will therefore improve your social media presence.
  2. Customer service. A great experience is always appreciated. Great customer experience will attract great feedback and make you more popular.
  3. Promotions. It won’t hurt to launch an ad or boost a post from time-to-time. Costs are typically low and this tactic enables a wider reach.
